Although the big trucks may still leap to mind when mobile production is mentioned, there’s been a redefinition of what it means to be mobile. Today, Mobile Studio USA offers ADR and webcasting in a 14-foot unit; CCI has taken its small-footprint HD trailer on the road; Motion Picture Marine and its Perfect Horizon system bring picture stabilization to anything that moves, including camera boats; and Island Century Media is providing fixed-wing live aerials to previously unserved areas.

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 4, 2011) — Commercial production company MJZ brought Voice Over There’s mobile recording studio to downtown Los Angeles to record voice over with Willem Dafoe for the Jim Beam “Parallels” spot. Voice Over There parked its trailer at the base camp near 3rd and Broadway, where Dafoe used the soundproof booth to record during a break in shooting while the production moved on to the next location.

On the Universal Studios lot, the new NBC hit series Parenthood is shooting on Stage 44. In between takes, one-by-one, the actors walk 200 feet from the stage and into Voice Over There’s compact trailer. There, when the door is closed, the din of nearby trucks and teamsters disappears. The actor enters a small sound booth and records ADR. Ten minutes later, the actor returns to the set. Read more…

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 20, 2010) — Smart Post Sound, a leading sound post facility in Burbank, CA, engaged the mobile ADR trailer from Voice Over There to record urgently needed additional dialog for episodes of the ABC Family hit series “Huge.” Voice Over There placed its mobile recording studio at the “Huge” base camp in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu. During breaks in filming, the actors stepped into the air conditioned, soundproof mobile studio to record replacement dialog, saving them from having to travel to another sound stage miles away. LOS ANGELES, CA (June 3, 2009) — Smart Post Sound, a leading sound post facility in Burbank, CA, engaged the mobile ADR trailer from Voice Over There to record urgently needed additional dialog for an episode of the popular Fox TV series “Bones.” Voice Over There placed its soundproof trailer at the “Bones” base camp 30 miles east of Los Angeles, recorded the needed lines with lead actor David Boreanaz, then sent the audio files via FTP back to Smart Post Sound for the final mix. The 100 sessions include primetime TV series clients such as “Bones,” “Lie to Me,” “Men of a Certain Age” and “United States of Tara” among many others.
